The Journey of PurpleDocs
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
PurpleDocs was born from a personal struggle. When Deepak Gupta’s mother battled cancer, managing stacks of medical records during hospital visits became overwhelming. This challenge led Deepak and his wife, Pooja Gupta, to ask: "Why don't doctors have access to Patient's treatment history"
Relocating to India, they discovered that existing digital solutions, designed for US and UK healthcare systems, were impractical for India, where doctors see 100-200 patients daily. Complex interfaces and heavy tech infrastructure disrupted workflows and patient interactions.
In 2010, after surveying hospitals in Pune, Mumbai, and Vadodara, they developed a customizable SaaS platform that digitizes patient records without altering doctors' workflows. Supported by a robust on-ground team, PurpleDocs offered seamless record digitization and content extraction.

Incubated at iCreate, PurpleDocs expanded to 16 cities using a hub-and-spoke model with archival units in Ahmedabad. Their promise of on-demand physical record delivery achieved a 99% success rate, earning recognition at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit.
As doctors began adopting digital devices in their daily practice, they launched PurpleEMR, a digital prescription tool emphasizing "select more, write less". It simplified clinic management and was later enhanced with video consultations and remote care management via MyPurpleDocs. PurpleEMR became Runner-Up at the Healthcare Innovation Challenge 3 by NASSCOM and MeitY.
With the rise of the Digital Health Mission, they introduced PurpleIPD for paperless inpatient care.
Today, the PurpleDocs Suite empowers healthcare providers with comprehensive, customizable solutions for better patient care and data management.
